1939 World's Fair Laurel Card, issued by the Academy of Sport, flawlessly signed in black ink by Babe Ruth. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the signature graded GEM MINT 10. These cards were presented to each student who attended the daily sports clinics sponsored by the Academy of Sport at the 1939 World's Fair. The clinics featured many famous sports personalities of the day, who volunteered their time to instruct youngsters on the finer points of the game, and routinely signed these souvenir cards for attendees. The card (4.25 x 2.75 inches), which was issued to "Guy Anselmo of Brooklyn, N.Y.," is lightly toned and displays a slight semicircular indentation along the top border. A small area of light discoloration is visible on the reverse. In Excellent condition overall. It should be noted that this card has been consigned by a family member of the original recipient. This card features an impeccable Ruth signature example that would appeal to even the most discriminating collector. Full LOA from Steve Grad and Brian Sobrero/Beckett Authentication and auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000++.
