Bank check, dated July 22, 1944, signed by the legendary “Big Train,” Walter Johnson. The check, drawn on the Germantown Bank of Germantown, Maryland, is made out to “Francis R. Wright” in the amount of $9.75 and is signed “Walter Johnson” in blue fountain pen (grading “8”). Endorsed by Wright on the reverse. The check (6.25 x 2.75 inches) displays normal bank cancellation stamps on the front and reverse, a heavy vertical fold, and a spindle hole in the center (very unobtrusive; a common characteristic of a canceled bank check). In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. Pre certified by Steve Grad and Brian Sobrero/Beckett Authentication. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+.
