Photo of Grover Alexander as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals, taken by noted baseball photographer George Burke, signed by the Hall of Fame pitcher on the front. Alexander has inscribed the photo “To Charles/G. C. Alexander” in blue fountain pen (grading “7/8”) across his image. Burke’s red credit stamp, reading “Geo Burke/847 Belmont Ave./Chicago,” appears on the reverse, along with a few additional typed and handwritten notations, including Alexander’s name. Although the photo was taken in the 1920s, this particular print was most likely produced in the 1930s or 1940s. Alexander passed away in 1950 and his signature is scarce in any form, let alone on a Georg Burke photo. This is one of only three Burke photos signed by Alexander we have seen and the first we have offered. The photo (4 x 6 inches) remains in Excellent to Mint condition. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA. Pre certified by Steve Grad and Brian Sobrero/Beckett Authentication.
