Pair of three-card advertising panels for the 1965 and 1966 Topps Baseball series. For many years (beginning in 1952 and continuing well into the 1960s), these rare three-card advertising panels were distributed by Topps to grocery-store and candy-store owners for the purpose of announcing and providing samples of the new cards being offered. The fronts are uncut strips of three cards. The reverse of the advertising panel cards, however, are very different from those of the issued cards, presenting advertising for the set directed to merchants. Because of their method of distribution and purpose, all Topps advertising panels are quite rare. The front of the 1965 panel features cards #67 Harvey Haddix, 78 Dal Maxvill, and 40 Frank Howard. The reverse features an illustration of 1965 Topps regular cards fanned out with an image of a 1965 Topps Embossed insert card in the foreground along with a promotional message advertising the series. The front of the 1966 panel features high-number cards #597 John Sullivan, 592 Andre Rogers, and 549 Senators Rookies. The reverse is blank-back. Each panel is preserved extremely well, bright and clean, and in overall Ex-Mt condition. Dimensions: 7.5 x 3.5 inches each. Total: 2 panels. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
