Offered is the actual original artwork used to produce two cards featuring Hall of Famer Casey Stengel: #227 from the 1960 Topps set and #29 from the 1962 Topps set. This is a particularly impressive artwork featuring Stengel in portrait form set against a blue background. This original flexichrome artwork measures approximately 4-1/4 by 6 inches and is mounted by means of tape to a larger production board, measuring 5-1/4 by 7 inches, which includes pencil-written notations about the card title and measurements. The visible artwork portion is in Near Mint condition with standard production-related remnants visible on the perimeter of the board. A small perimeter area of the artwork was cropped out on the final issued cards. This is an outstanding original 1960s Topps baseball card artwork, extremely lifelike in its execution, featuring this popular Hall of Fame manager. The artwork is accompanied by examples of the issued cards. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
