This 1965 Bazooka sheet presents the complete set of thirty-six cards in twelve three-card panels. This scarce package-design set features many Hall of Famers, including Mantle, Mays, Koufax, Clemente, Aaron, Kaline, Gibson, Killebrew, B. Robinson, and F. Robinson. The sheet is a final process proof sheet with several printer notations in ink. The purpose of the notations was for the printer to make final color corrections prior to authorizing production quantities. This is a true proof sheet with working notations and color bars. Two 1965 Bazooka box package designs featuring Mantle and Mays are included at the top, also for proofing, adding to the sheet's ideal-for-display design and impressive visual appeal. This sheet was really worked on. Folded in half, probably at Topps for easy carrying from one station to the next. 1965 Bazooka sheets are about as rare as modern uncut sheets can get. This is the only example we have ever seen, and it may very well be unique. Because of the fold and extensive printer's notations, it is difficult to grade, but the sheet displays very well and the condition flaws relate directly to its intended use. The sheet is bright and crisp, with magnificent colors, a large piece missing from the top edge, and two pieces of black tape at the top and bottom edges. This is a fascinating uncut proof sheet from one of the scarcest and most overlooked Topps-related issues of the era. Dimensions: 21 x 28 inches. Reserve $500. Estimate (open).
