Presented is a near-complete set of eighteen different cards, entirely graded and encapsulated by PSA, from the very rare regionally issued 1955 Old Homestead Franks minor-league cards set that feature twenty-one members of the Des Moines Bruins, the Class A Western League affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. This is the finest group of these cards that we have ever seen or offered! Missing only three cards for completion (Anderson, McDaniel, and Martin). The EXTREME rarity of these cards is no doubt related to being issued with hot dogs, as well as their very limited and regional distribution. Each card bears a black-and-white portrait of the player on front along with a facsimile signature and a solid black nameplate listing his name, position, and team. The reverse bears advertising for Old Homestead Franks. The condition of this near-complete set is exceptionally high-grade and ranges from EX to NM-MT+. PSA Grading Composite: NM-MT+ 8.5 (1 card): Thurlby. NM-MT 8 (4 cards): Cooke, Fodge, Stanka, and Thorpe. NM+ 7.5 (1 card): Morgan. NM 7 (3 cards): Flammini, McKee, and Pearson. EX-MT+ 6.5 (2 cards): Bellino and Cunningham. EX-MT 6 (5 cards): Biebel, Haas, Menking, Pramesa, and Stoddard. EX 5 (2 cards): Hoffmeister and Watkins. Old Homestead Franks cards are very rarely available in complete-set form, in any condition, and this near-complete set may literally be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire an unparalleled collection. This is an incredible near-set, the finest we have ever offered, of this regional issue that will be a significant addition to even the most advanced collection. Total: 18 cards. Reserve $1,000.
