Presented is a complete set of 1956 Topps Pins. This rare and very colorful pin set was one of Topps' first specialty issues. Included are all the great stars of the era, such as Hank Aaron, Jackie Robinson, Ted Williams, etc. Each pin measures 1-1/8 inches in diameter and features the same player portraits used in the 1956 Topps card set. These pins were sold separately from the cards, packaged in small boxes with gum. The set is in Excellent condition overall, with just a few very slightly lesser. 1956 Topps pins have long been overlooked and because of grading are now just beginning to receive the attention that they deserve. High-grade examples of 1956 Topps pins are particularly rare because like all litho pins (as opposed to celluloid pins), they are extremely condition-sensitive. Litho pins are very susceptible to scratches because their designs are printed directly onto the metal, as opposed to being printed on paper and encased under protective celluloid, as is the case with celluloid pinbacks. This is a sharp looking set, much better than normally found, and needing only a couple replacements. Compared to card issues of the 1950s, a strong case can be made that 1956 Topps pins, which are among the rarest and most overlooked of all significant Topps issues, are also one of the most outstanding values for collectors. This is an extremely attractive, bright, clean, and overall high-grade set. This issue is not yet on the radar of most 1950s gum-card collectors, but would be a worthy accompaniment to any 1950s gum-card collection. Total: 60 pins.
