Collection of sixteen rare Esskay Hot Dog cards highlighted by the scarce Bobo Newsom. The regionally issued 1955 Esskay set exclusively features the roster of the Baltimore Orioles franchise. One-card was issued with each pack of Esskay hot dogs. Their method of issue coupled with their legendary rarity have always made Esskays one of the most highly prized regional issues of the era. Condition is notoriously a problem with Esskays as they were designed to be cut from the hot dog package and are often found with varying degrees of borders intact. Nearly all of the cards in this collection have been cut down to the image leaving no borders present. The following grades have been assigned without respect to the cutting. The collection consists of the following: Cox (Gd), Diering (Fr), Evers (Vg-Ex), Johnson (Pr), Kennedy (Gd), Kretlow (Vg), Kuzava (Vg-Ex), Marsh (Gd+), Maxwell (Fr), Miller (Gd), Miranda (signed, otherwise Vg), Moore (pencil on reverse, otherwise Gd), Newsom (color added, otherwise Vg+), Smith (Vg+), Triandos (Gd), and Young (Fr-Gd). This collection represents a rare opportunity to acquire an extremely attractive and substantial group from this classic 1950s regional food issue. Total: 16 cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate (open).
