Graded GOOD 2 by PSA. Attractive lower-grade example of this short-printed "Rare Leaf" rookie card featuring Hall of Fame pitcher Hal Newhouser. The 1948 Leaf Bubble Gum card of Newhouser is the most popular and striking of all his cards. It is also a genuine rarity, being one of the forty-nine rare cards in the 1948-1949 Leaf Gum Co. set. The clean, off-white borders of this card frame a virtually flawless image that is centered slightly to the top. Small creases across the right-side corners and tape residue on the reverse account for the technically accurate assigned grade. This is a very attractive example of Newhouser’s most classic card, a key rarity for an advanced Hall of Famer rookie card collection. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
