Graded VG 3 by PSA. Very attractive Ted Williams rookie card from the popular 1939 Play Ball set. The 1939 Play Ball Ted Williams rookie has always been recognized as one of vintage-card collecting's great classics. The card displays honest corner wear (a bit more pronounced at the upper right) and a crystal-clear image featuring the "Splendid Splinter" in his familiar swing-thru pose. Centered slightly to the right. The boldly printed reverse of the card shows a pair of creases that are far less visible from the front. It is fascinating to note that the text on the back of this rookie card reports that "Ted Williams, one of the youngest players in baseball, has a great future according to experts." This classic rookie card is one of the key cards from the 1939 Play Ball set and one of the most popular cards of the era. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+.
