This set may represent the best value of all cards issued in the 1930s. This set is currently ranked fourth on the PSA Set Registry with an impressive 8.54 GPA! PSA Grading Composite: GEM MINT 10 (3 cards): Frisch (HOF, highest graded), Fox (pop 1), and Hubbell (HOF, highest graded). MINT 9 (24 cards): Appling (HOF), Averill (HOF), Bonura, Camilli, Collins, Crosetti, Davis, Derringer, Ferrell (HOF), French, Galan, Gehringer (HOF), Haas, Hack, Hayworth, Herman (HOF), Higgins, Jurges, Klein (HOF), Lee, O'Dea, Traynor (HOF), Vaughan (HOF), and L. Virtually all high-grade complete sets of S & S in the entire hobby originate from a single source - Bruce Yeko's "Wholesale Cards." Yeko was one of the hobby's first full-time vintage card dealers, and in the early 1960s he somehow came upon a significant quantity of 1936 S & S Game card complete sets in Mint condition. For many years these sets were offered in "Wholesale Cards" fixed-price catalog for $19.95 per set. No one knows how many sets he originally had, but it was probably a few hundred. They were available well into the early 1970s, before they finally ran out. Even years ago, S & S Game card sets represented an outstanding value. There are no guarantees, but it is our guess that the tremendous value represented by these cards will help them to be an equally great investment in the future. The total SMR value for forty-nine of the fifty-four cards (SMR values do not exist for GEM MINT 10s or direction cards) is $4,675! Total: 54 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+.
