Graded GOOD+ 2.5 by PSA. Presented is an attractive example of the key card from the 1935 Goudey “4-in-1” set, featuring Babe Ruth on his final card issued during his playing days. The 1935 Goudey cards are particularly hard to find in high grade. The colored flush-to-the-border design makes them very susceptible to edge and corner wear. The offered card displays centering toward the right, light wear at the corners, a crisp image with bold colors, and a heavy horizontal crease below Ruth's image. Clean reverse. The 1935 Goudey of Ruth is a fascinating card. While Ruth is identified with the Boston Braves, Goudey has actually borrowed and cropped the Yankee dugout pose image of Ruth’s card #181 from the 1933 Goudey series. The three other players who appear on the card are McManus, Brandt, and Maranville. The puzzle section on the reverse is “Picture 1 Card J.” This is an outstanding example of one of Babe Ruth’s most overlooked but significant cards: his final card from his playing days. Reserve $200. Estimate $400.
