Collection of fourteen different 1933 R305 Tattoo Orbit cards, highlighted by Hall of Famers Lefty Grove and Gabby Hartnett. All the cards have been graded and encapsulated by PSA (eight) or SGC (six). This collection consists of the following: Blaeholder SP (SGC VG 40), Dykes (PSA VG-EX+ 4.5), Fonseca (PSA VG-EX 4), Grimm (PSA EX-MT 6), Grove (HOF, SGC GOOD 30), Haas (PSA EX-MT 6), Hallahan (PSA GOOD 2), Hartnett (HOF, PSA VG-EX 4), Babe Herman (SGC EX 60), Jurges (SGC VG/EX 50), Malone (PSA EX 5), McManus (VG/EX+ 55), Stephenson (PSA EX-MT 6), and Tinning (SGC GOOD 30). Their striking colors, unusual size (2 x 2.25 inches), and rarity compared to other 1930s sets make Tattoo Orbits one of the most fascinating, distinctive, and difficult-to-complete of all sets from the 1930s. This classic 1930s gum-card set was issued by the Orbit Gum Co. of Chicago (a subsidiary of Wrigley’s) in 1933. Collectors have always appreciated the rarity and striking design of this distinctive issue. This is an extremely attractive group of these unusual and scarce 1930s cards, representing 23% of a complete set. The equivalent SMR value in the assigned grades is $1,070 (factoring the two half-grades at the lower whole-grade level). Total: 14 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
