Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA. Presented is a magnificent high-grade example of this classic Lou Gehrig card. This is one of Gehrig's rarest 1930s cards and one of the key cards to the U.S. Caramel set. The 1932 multisport set produced by U.S. Caramel is considerably rarer than Goudeys and most other 1930s sets, and has long been recognized as among the most desirable issues of the era. With their distinctive red backgrounds, they are also widely regarded as one of the most striking of all baseball card issues. This R328 U.S. Caramel Lou Gehrig example is bright and clean, both front and back, with four strong corners showing just light wear. Gehrig’s flawless portrait image contrasts sharply against the bold red background. Centered just slightly to the left (approximately 35/65 L/R). The black text on the reverse is crisp, bold, and essentially flawless, with near-perfect centering. There is a very tiny, almost imperceptible surface wrinkle visible under close inspection. The R328 is one of Gehrig's most popular and desirable cards, and one of the most famous and majestic cards in the collecting world. The R328 Gehrig is also far rarer than Gehrig's 1933 Goudey counterparts, especially in high grade. This is an extremely attractive high-grade example of one of Gehrig's most classic cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000+.
