In 1950, if you were walking down the supermarket aisle, you would have seen boxes of Royal Desserts, exactly as offered in this lot: the front displaying the company logo and the reverse featuring a package-design card (intended to be cut from the box) with an illustration of a famous star. One dedicated collector had the foresight to realize what a remarkable collectible this would someday be and he kept this box, featuring New York Yankees Hall of Famer Phil Rizzuto, intact and unopened. We can't imagine that too many boxes have survived unopened like this. The box (3-1/2 x 2-7/8 x 1-1/8 inches) is in virtually perfect condition, showing only light touches of wear at the corners. It has been perfectly preserved from the elements for the last sixty-five years! Royal Desserts are rarely seen in original unopened form! An outstanding addition to any food-issue or unopened-box collection! Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
