Presented is an exceedingly scarce 1947 Pleetwood Slacks Jackie Robinson, one of only two examples ever graded (at any level) by PSA. This black-and-white card measures 5 x 8 inches and depicts Robinson from the chest up dressed in a suit and posed in a formal studio portrait. A fascimile signature ("Best Wishes/Jackie Robinson") appears on his shoulder, with an endorsement for Pleetwood Slacks along the bottom. The card has a blank back. The card was likely produced as a giveaway for stores selling the Pleetwood brand and may have even been used as an autograph vehicle for any appearances made by Robison on the company's behalf. Graded PR 1 by PSA, the card presents very well but has a number of condition flaws, including scattered creasing, a heavy fold along the bottom strip bearing the endorsement, and a few spots of paper loss on the blank reverse, which account for the modest assigned grade. This is an extremely rare and very early collectible featuring legendary Brooklyn Dodgers Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson that would be at home in any advanced Robinson or type-card collection. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
