Presented is a very rarely offered complete set of R305 Tattoo Orbit cards. Their striking colors, unusual size (2 x 2.25 inches), and rarity compared to other 1930s sets make "Tattoo Orbits" one of the most fascinating, distinctive, and difficult-to-complete of all sets from the 1930s. This classic 1930s gum-card set, issued by the Orbit Gum Co. of Chicago (a subsidiary of Wrigley’s) in 1933, includes seventeen Hall of Famers and three short-print cards. Condition of the offered set is 9% Vg-Ex (including one better), 32% Gd to Vg, and 59% lesser (mostly due to paper loss on back).Keys:
Averill (SGC VG 40), Cochrane (Gd), Cuyler (Pr), Dean (Pr), Foxx (Pr), Grimes (PSA GOOD 2), Grove (Pr), Hafey (Pr), Haines (PSA VG 3 [MK]), Hartnett (Gd), Herman (Gd), Hornsby (PSA VG-EX 4), Lombardi (Pr), Lyons (Pr), Mack (PSA VG 3), Simmons (Vg), and P. Waner (Vg). Additional graded cards: One PSA EX 5:
Reynolds. One SGC VG/EX 50:
McManus. Two SGC VG 40:
Jurges and Vosmik. This is only the third complete set of R305 Tattoo Orbit, in any condition, that we have offered in the last fifteen years. This is a very scarce complete set of this unusual, and extremely substantial, 1930s gum issue. Total: 60 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000.
