Graded NM 7 by PSA. Beautiful, absolutely stunning high-grade example of one of Babe Ruth’s most classic cards: #149 Ruth with red background from the 1933 Goudey series. This is an extraordinary card! Perfect registration, flawless colors, four strong corners showing only light touches at the extreme tips. Perfectly bright and clean, both front and back. Centered very slightly to the bottom. The reverse is also essentially unimprovable with extremely bold green printing. Goudey cards featuring Babe Ruth are among the most recognizable of all vintage cards in the hobby, and they are on almost every single list compiling the greatest cards ever issued, including PSA's Top 250 Sportscards in the Hobby set, based on the book Collecting Sports Legends: The Ultimate Hobby Guide, by Joe Orlando, which selects the most significant cards from all the different sports. Collectors are beginning to appreciate how scarce superb high-grade examples really are, with cards in the especially high grades, such as this, realizing extremely strong prices recently. There is good reason for it: Goudey Babe Ruth cards are never going out of style with collectors, and they are among the safest stores of value and most recognizable cards available to new collectors. This is an outstanding world-class example of one Babe Ruth's most important and highly prized baseball cards which would be a very significant addition to any 1933 Goudey set, Babe Ruth, or classic-cards collection. Reserve $10,000. Estimate (open).
