Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. Very attractive mid-grade example of this rare Babe Ruth card. While little is known about the W502 set with respect to its precise method of distribution, the cards can clearly be used to play a baseball card game (various game "plays" are listed on the reverse of each) and were very likely produced as a promotional vehicle for merchants. The offered example displays a “Two Bagger” reverse. This set very closely resembles several other issues from the same time period, including the Yuengling's, Tharp's, and Harrington's ice-cream sets. This example is crisp and clean, with outstanding centering and four strong corners with light wear visible only at the tips. This is an outstanding example worthy of any high-quality Babe Ruth or prewar-card collection. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
