Presented is an uncut sheet (5-1/2 x 13 inches) of 1925 W504 Universal Toy and Novelty cards, representing a complete set of the Brooklyn Dodgers. The sheet is designed with a large team card at the top and sixteen individual player cards, for a total of 17 cards. The three Hall of Famers featured on the sheet are Grimes, Vance, and Wheat. These cards were sold in sheets and were intended to be cut apart by youngsters. This is the original uncut form in which they were issued. Most of the uncut W504 sheets of Brooklyn players which are seen in the hobby today originated long ago from the collection of Dr. Lawrence Kurzrok. Dr. Kurzrok was one of the great pioneers of card collecting, who, from the 1930s through the 1960s, amassed what may have been the largest card collection in the world. The W504 sheet along with an uncut sheet of 1919 W552 Mayfair Baseball Positions Drawings (Gd condition, large stain on right edge) and a handwritten letter from retired major leaguer Jimmie Dykes are matted together as one display piece. All of which have been taped down with strips of tape. The W504 sheet is technically in Vg condition due to a crease in the lower left corner, but presents with a far better appearance. W504 uncut sheets are scarce and, being photographic cards and including a larger team card, very unusual and substantial for strip cards.
