Graded FAIR 20 by SGC. Very attractive example of Babe Ruth from the W516-2-1 strip-card series. Ruth is depicted in a pitching pose (though listed as an outfielder) as a member of the New York Yankees. The hand-cut card displays a crisp image, bold colors, and outstanding centering. The corners show moderate rounding and the blank reverse is entirely clean. A small paper tear originating at the top edge accounts for the assigned grade. This is a very presentable lower-grade example of one of Babe Ruth's most classic 1920s strip-cards and one that would be a significant addition to any Babe Ruth, strip-card, or prewar-card collection. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
