Graded VG 40 by SGC (submitted by REA). Presented is an extremely attractive high-grade example of #93 Del Pratt (St. Louis Browns) from the 1914 Cracker Jack #144 series. Pratt has long been considered one of the most difficult cards in the set, and the population reports support this fact. To date, out of 2,395 cards from the 1914 Cracker Jack set evaluated by SGC, only ten examples of Pratt have ever been graded. Pratt is also extremely rare to find in high grade, with only three examples grading higher than the offered card. Bright and crisp, with a bold red background, four strong corners, and outstanding centering. The front and back both display very faint traces of caramel staining, far less than is normally encountered with #144 series cards. Downgraded due to a small corner crease in the upper left. The 1914 Cracker Jacks, of course, are far rarer to find in high grade than their 1915 counterparts, because the 1914 #144 series cards were only issued in boxes of Cracker Jack. This is a superb example from this classic set that would make an outstanding addition to any high-quality 1914 Cracker Jack set or prewar-card collection. Reserve $2,500. Estimate (open).
