Presented is a collection of twelve different D304 Brunners Bread and General Baking bakery cards (out of just twenty-five in the set), highlighted by five Hall of Famers, including Cy Young. Similar in design to tobacco and candy cards of the era, D304s measure slightly larger than T206s, at 1.75 x 2.5 inches, and while not "on the radar" of most collectors, are actually considerably rarer than most 1910-era "E" and "T" card issues. The fronts feature very attractive full-color illustrations, each of which is unique to this issue. Issued by a bakery in the Buffalo, New York, area, D304s are actually known with five different back styles (Brunners, Butter Krust, General Baking Co., Weber Bakery, and Martens Bakery). All twelve cards are professionally graded and encapsulated by SGC. This collection consists of the following: One GOOD 30: Meyers (General Baking). Seven FAIR 20: Baker (HOF), Barry, Bell, Fletcher (General Baking), Kelly, Marquard (HOF, General Baking), and Merkle. One POOR 10: Young (HOF). Three Authentic: Chance/no team (HOF, General Baking, color added, otherwise Pr-Fr), Collins (HOF, trimmed, otherwise Vg), and Rucker (General Baking, trimmed). This is an outstanding collection of twelve different cards, including a very high concentration of Hall of Famers, from this rare prewar food issue. Total: 12 cards. Reserve $400. Estimate $1,000+.
