Graded EX 60 by SGC. This is the ONLY example graded at this level with none higher! Presented is an extraordinary high-grade 1914 T222 Fatima of legendary Hall of Famer Miller Huggins (St. Louis Cardinals) in a batting pose. This is widely recognized as one of Huggins' most desirable cards, and it is very rarely offered, especially in such outstanding condition. Issued in 1914 by the Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company, the individual-player Fatima cards are among the most distinctive of all tobacco cards and are much rarer than the T200 Fatima team cards. The thin photographic stock and fragile glossy surface of these unusual real-photo style cards make them especially susceptible to minor surface creases. This stunning example is bright and crisp, with a virtually flawless surface, outstanding contrast, four square corners (just a tiny corner crease in the lower right corner), and near-perfect centering. The reverse has a few faint tobacco stains (mentioned strictly for accuracy) and a boldly printed advertisement. This is an incredible high-grade example (which is all the more noteworthy due to the condition-sensitive nature of the T222 set) of one of the most desirable of all Miller Huggins cards, and one of the key cards from the exceptionally high quality T222 set that dates from the early teens. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
