Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. Very attractive example of Hall of Famer Chief Bender (Baltimore, white cap variation) from the 1914 Kotton Tobacco set. Produced by the People's Tobacco Co. of New Orleans, the Kotton Tobacco series was regionally issued only in the Louisiana area. The Kotton Tobacco set shares designs with several other closely related caramel and bakery issues (E90-1 American Caramel Company, E92 Dockman & Sons, etc.) from the same era. All Kotton Tobacco cards are extremely rare, but Hall of Fame examples are especially desirable to many collectors. Flawless image set against a green background, with even corner wear and two light surface wrinkles on the reverse, which is boldly printed and shows a modest-sized stain at the top. An attractive 1914 tobacco-card rarity, featuring Hall of Famer Chief Bender when he was with the Baltimore Terrapins of the Federal League. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
