Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. Very attractive example of St. Paul manager John Barnes (pose #20-1) from the legendary N172 Old Judge series. Managers tend to jump out as special and unusual in any collection of Old Judges, in part because of the fancy street clothes (as seen here) in which the subjects are usually pictured. They are naturally a very popular subset of Old Judge collecting. The offered card is bright and clean, with four strong corners showing light touches of wear, and a virtually flawless surface. There is a small black mark on the top border. The blank reverse displays light vertical creasing, which does not affect the front and accounts for the assigned grade. This is a beautiful sample of a highly desirable manager card that would be a worthy addition to any high-quality N172 Old Judge collection. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
