Offered is the rare Ray Demmitt (St. Louis Americans) card from the T206 set, a significant variation rarity from the popular T206 White Border series. This is one of the rarest cards in the set, and is usually among the very last cards (not including "The Big Four") required by collectors to complete the T206 set. This card has been always recognized as a great rarity, since the days of Jefferson Burdick. (In fact, Burdick singled out Demmitt and O'Hara, the other St. Louis variation in the set, along with Wagner, Plank, and Magie, as significant T206 rarities in the original American Card Catalog.) The card presents as Excellent overall, with a crisp image, bold colors, outstanding centering, and four strong corners showing light touches of wear under close inspection, but it has been encapsulated by SGC as "Authentic" (submitted by REA) due to evidence of trimming. The Polar Bear advertisement on the reverse is flawless and bold. Cards issued with Polar Bear tobacco were not well protected from the accompanying product; thus almost all Demmitt cards have at least some condition problems including tobacco staining (the offered example displays absolutely no tobacco staining on the reverse). This is a tremendous opportunity to acquire an affordable example of this key T206 rarity.
