Presented is a collection of twelve different cards from the classic T206 White Border series, exclusively featuring Old Mill and Polar Bear advertising reverses. Each card is graded and encapsulated VG/EX 50 by SGC (except for two EX 60 as noted). Both Old Mill and Polar Bear advertising backs are seen slightly more infrequently than standard Piedmont and Sweet Caporal backs, and Polar Bears are an especially popular advertising back with collectors because of the distinct blue background and crisp white printing. This collection consists of the following: Old Mill: Burke, Schlei/portrait, Schlei/batting, and Wilhelm/with bat. Polar Bear: Crandall/portrait with cap, Lattimore (SGC EX 60), McIntyre/Brooklyn & Chicago, O’Leary/hands on knees (SGC EX 60), Pfeister/throwing, Reulbach/no glove showing, Tannehill/Tannehill on front, and Thielman. This is a very attractive collection of twelve cards in a very desirable grade from the legendary T206 series. The equivalent SMR value in the assigned grades is $1,095, with no premium assigned for the unusual backs. Total: 12 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
