Graded EX 60 by SGC. Highest graded example! High-grade sample card from the 1912 E136 Home Run Kisses series featuring John Kane from the Vernon Tigers. Home Run Kisses was a brand name of the San Francisco based Collins-McCarthy Candy Company, which from 1911 to 1938 annually issued cards of Pacific Coast League players with its product (so called "Zee-Nuts"). Due to its method of issue (one card per box) and large size (2-1/4 x 4-3/16 inches), Home Run Kisses are usually found in modest grade. This particularly striking example is perfectly bright and clean, with a flawless surface, outstanding contrast, light, even wear to the corners, and almost perfect centering. The blank reverse is also clean with a small advertising logo for "Bardell - Sepia - San Francisco" boldly printed in the lower right. The 90-card 1912 E136 Home Run Kisses set is one of the most highly prized of all Pacific Coast League issues and one of the scarcest of all 1910-era PCL card issues. This is an ideal high-grade sample card from this rare and extremely popular set. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
