Rare E125 American Caramel sample card featuring first baseman Jake Stahl from the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox are one of four teams featured in the set, and because of their bright red accents, are particularly striking for display. E125s have always been held in the highest esteem by advanced collectors both for their extreme rarity as well as for their very striking and unique design. The fragile nature of all die-cut cards and the easily broken flaps at the base of E125s, which allow them to stand, make complete, high-grade examples, such as the offered card, all the rarer. This card is a gem for this condition-sensitive issue! The card has an Excellent to Mint appearance, but is technically Vg-Ex due to a light wrist crease on his glove hand and also a second crease on his left shoulder. The reverse of the card, which features a complete checklist of the Red Sox in the set and advertising for American Caramels, is bright and clean with bold black text. The stand-up tabs are all intact and have never even been folded back. E125 die-cuts are among the rarest of all 1910-era candy issues. This is an extremely attractive high-grade sample card from this rare and unique 1910-era baseball die-cut caramel-card set. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+.
