Very rare printing error of Bobby Byrne (Pittsburgh Pirates) from the E94 George Close Candy Co. series. Despite appearing perfectly normal on front, the checklist back is printed upside down! While at a glance E94s may be easily confused with other caramel-card sets of the era (E93 and E98 specifically), they are an entirely different set, even though they use many of the same subjects and poses. Of the three previously mentioned sets, E94s are the most difficult. The E94 caramel-card set is usually associated with the George Close Co. of Cambridge, Massachusetts. This example is well centered, with a crisp image and brilliant red background. Heavy creasing is solely responsible for the assigned grade of PR 1 by PSA. This is an extremely rare and unusual printing anomaly, and would make a worthy addition to any E94 or printing-error collection. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
