Rare New York Yankees ticket stub from the game in which Mickey Mantle hit his 500th career home run. While Mantle World Series home-run ticket stubs are common in the hobby, those from his regular-season milestone achievements are much more elusive. This is just the second Mantle 500th home-run ticket we have ever offered and we cannot recall having seen more than six others at auction over the past twenty years. Mantle's historic blast took place at Yankee Stadium on May 14, 1967, in a game against the Baltimore Orioles. The victim that day was Stu Miller, with the epic blast coming in the seventh inning with two outs and no one on base. As it turned out, Mantle's home run was the decisive run in the Yankees' 6-5 win that day. The ticket stub (1.5 x 2.75 inches), which is for a "Lower Stand Box Seat," displays a few very light creases and a small area of both tape residue and surface paper loss on the reverse. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+.
