Mint-in-box example of "Jimmy Piersall's Little Pro Bat A Round." Although this training device, which is essentially a batting tee, bears Piersall's name, the endorsement of Yankees slugger Roger Maris stands front and center on the lid. Maris is pictured demonstrating his swing on the device, above which is printed his glowing testimony: "I use the Little Pro!" The text along the base of the lid lets patrons know that an 8 x 10 autographed photo of Roger Maris is included in the box. This particular piece obviously dates to 1962, when Maris was the king of the baseball world (he even overshadows Willie Mays, whose endorsement is relegated to the lower right corner of the lid). This is the first example we have ever seen in its original unopened box (the original staples are all firmly secure) and aside from some minor toning, it remains in Mint condition, looking just as it did on the store shelf fifty-four years ago. Dimensions: 16 x 16 x 4 inches. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
