Scarce three-sheet movie poster for the 1962 Columbia Pictures release Safe at Home, starring Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris. Although the film will never be found on any critic's list of top 100 sports movies, the studio's advertising department certainly hit a home run, as the colorful movie poster has long been a classic among collectors. The three-sheet image, which is different than that of the one-sheet, features "M&M Boys" posing together with child-star Bryan Russell, "The Luckiest Kid in the World," sitting on their shoulders. The poster (41.25 x 78 inches) has been linen backed and displays a small amount of professional restoration to minor tears along the fold lines and borders. In apparent Excellent to Mint condition and perfect for display as intended. Two wooden runners are affixed along the top and bottom borders (not touching the actual poster) for ease in hanging. The Safe at Home three sheet is the scarcest of all paper issued for the film and has long been considered a classic, both as a Maris-Mantle display piece and as a baseball-related movie poster. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000++.
