Exceedingly rare full proof ticket ("Lower Res. Seat") to the third and final playoff game between the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants held at the Polo Grounds on Wednesday, October 3, 1951. Graded NM 7 by PSA. This was the game in which Bobby Thomson hit one of the most dramatic home runs in baseball history: a three-run game-winning shot in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Giants an improbable 5-4 win and the pennant. That famous home run, known today as "The Shot Heard Round The World," was further immortalized by Giants radio announcer Russ Hodges' unforgettable call, made famous by the repeated refrain, "The Giants win the pennant, the Giants win the pennant, the Giants win the pennant, the Giants win the pennant..." This is only the third full ticket to that historic game we have ever seen, made all the more desirable because of its Near Mint condition. Truly one of the most significant tickets of the postwar era and one that is absent from even the most advanced collections. 6.25 x 1.5 inches. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open).
