Original news photo capturing Hall of Fame second baseman Eddie Collins as a member of the Chicago White Sox. Collins is pictured on the field striking a catching pose prior to a game. A number of Culver Pictures, Inc., stamps and labels appear on the reverse, as do the handwritten notations "Eddie Collins" (twice) and "1914." The date is obviously in error, because Collins did not join the White Sox until 1915. The uniform style shown here was worn by the White Sox from 1921 to 1926, thereby dating the photo to that seven-year span. The photo (6.25 x 8 inches), which offers exceptional clarity, displays a number of light surface wrinkles and a tiny chip in the upper right corner. In Very Good condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
