Unique program, designed in the shape of catcher's glove, issued for a banquet held in honor of the 1913-1914 "World's Tour Base Ball Teams" at the Multnomah Hotel in Portland, Oregon, on November 18, 1913. As noted on the interior, the banquet was given by the Portland Base Ball Boosters, with all of the decorations furnished by A. G. Spalding & Co. Also listed within the four interior pages are the names of the visiting tourists, including Jim Thorpe, Christy Mathewson, John McGraw, Charles Comiskey, Tris Speaker, and Sam Crawford. This banquet followed what would be the final game on the United States leg of the tour, because the next two games, scheduled in Tacoma and Seattle, Washington, respectively, were rained out. This is the first example of this rare program from the 1913-1914 tour we have ever seen and, given that it was issued in limited quantity for a one-time event, we would not be surprised if it is the lone survivor. The program (7.25 x 7.5 inches) displays a four-inch diagonal tear on the reverse, as well as adhesive residue and surface paper loss as a result of having been removed from a scrapbook album. Aside from that it remains in Excellent condition overall. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
