Each of the two turn-of-the-century bats offered here is unique with regard to the design of the knob or handle. Neither bat displays any manufacturer's stampings and it is possible that both are singular homemade or custom-made examples. The first (34 inches; 41.8 ounces) features a second knob-like protrusion five inches up the handle and a flat barrel top. We are not sure exactly what function it was meant to serve, but perhaps it made it easier to choke up on the bat if necessary. Ex, with light-to-moderate use and lathe marks on each end. The second bat (31.5 inches; 36.6 ounces) features a much wider and flatter knob than normal, along with a very tapered handle and flat barrel top. Ex, with light-to-moderate use. Total: 2 bats. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
