This collection of seventeen turn-of-the-century baseball photos is highlighted by four large-format cabinet photos, each depicting a different team. Like nearly all baseball photos from this early time period, most of the teams and players represented in this grouping are not identified, and only one displays a photographer's credit. The most impressive piece in the collection is a large cabinet photo picturing twelve members of the Capital ball club (as noted by the lettering on their uniforms) posing together in a formal studio setting. A large array of bats, balls, and catcher's equipment is displayed in front of them. Both the photo (19 x 15) and mount (20 x 16 inches) display a few moderate tears along the base, with the photo also showing some light spotting. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. The remaining items in this collection are as follows: 1) Large-format cabinet photo (11.5 x 9.25 inches) capturing a team posing together in a studio setting. The letters "R A" appear on the front of each uniform. Area of light staining to both the photo and mount along the top border; otherwise Ex-Mt. 2) Large-format cabinet photo (12 x 10 inches) capturing nine uniformed players posing together in an outdoor setting. The vintage pencil notation "July 1894 Orange City Florida" is written on the reverse. Ex-Mt. 3) Large-format cabinet photo (12 x 10 inches) picturing twelve team members (ten in uniform) posing together on the steps of a building. There is a moderate chip along the left border of the mount and the photo displays light foxing. Vg-Ex. Matted to the exact dimensions of the mount. 4) Cabinet card (4 x 6.5 inches) picturing two uniformed players posing together in a studio setting. Credited to "Goodman, Altoona, PA." along he base of the mount and on the reverse. Ex-Mt. 5-6) Two real-photo postcards capturing the "D. A. A. B. B. C. (as noted on their uniforms and in print on one of the photos). Both photos are trimmed to their current dimensions. The first (5 x 3.5 inches) is lettered "D. A. A. B. B. C. 1911" in the lower right corner. Affixed to an irregularly trimmed mount. Ex. The second (4.5 x 3.5 inches), which pictures different players, has paper residue on the reverse from having been removed from an album. Ex. 7-16) Ten photos (3 x 5 inches), each picturing an individual uniformed player posing in an indoor setting. The letter "A" appears on the left chest of each player's uniform. Each photo is mounted onto a thick cardboard backing. Ex overall. Total: 17 photos. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
