Baseball tintype, housed in its original thermoplastic case, dating from the mid- to late-nineteenth century. The exquisite photograph captures seven team members, each dressed in similar uniforms, posing together in a formal studio setting. Two of the players are holding bats. Although many baseball tintypes feature more than one player, group images of this many is rare. The tintype is in apparent Near Mint condition and remains housed in its original protective case (3.25 x 3.75 inches) that features a gold mat and gilt-edged frame. The case displays moderate wear and is in Very Good to Excellent condition. Reserve $500. Estimate (open).
