Special limited-edition Joe DiMaggio signature-model Hillerich & Bradsby bat inscribed "Joe DiMaggio/Yankee Clipper," in blue Sharpie (grading "10") on the barrel. This bat has the ideal provenance of originating from the Joe DiMaggio estate. It is accompanied by a notarized LOA, signed by DiMaggio's attorney, Morris Engleberg, who oversaw the liquidation of the DiMaggio estate, detailing the provenance of the bat and attesting to its authenticity. In Engleberg's LOA he notes that the bat originates from DiMaggio's personal collection and was later sold to Shop At Home Inc., in February 1999, at which time it, along with a number of other identically signed "Yankee Clipper" bats, were offered by the company for sale on its television network. Apparently, only 361 of these specially inscribed "Yankee Clipper" bats were sold by the company, as it bears a handwritten limitation number (in black Sharpie) of "194/361" directly below the barrel stamping. The 36-inch bat remains in Mint condition. Full LOA from PSA/DNA and auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+.
