Real-photo postcard featuring Jackie Robinson as a member of the Brooklyn Dodgers, signed by Robinson on both the front and reverse. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with each signature graded MINT 9. Robinson has boldly inscribed the front and reverse of the card "Best Wishes/Jackie Robinson" in blue ink. A facsimile inscription, in black print along the bottom white border, reads "Sincerely Yours,/Jackie Robinson." This particular card was originally produced in the late 1940s and was intended for use by both Robinson and the Brooklyn Dodgers to fulfill autograph requests. It was also used as a promotional card by the Jackie Robinson Clothing Store, a men's apparel store located in Harlem that Robinson owned from 1952 to 1958. Obviously, this card was still being used by Robinson to honor autograph requests well after his playing career ended, as evidenced by the postmark on the back that is dated "Sep 6 1966 Stamford, Conn." (Robinson lived in Stamford, Connecticut.) While we are not sure why Robinson signed the card on both the front and reverse (perhaps the recipient specifically requested it), one thing we do know is that this is the only twice-signed example we have ever seen. As such, it represents both a rare and extremely desirable Jackie Robinson signed item featuring two outstanding signature examples. The card (3.5 x 5.5 inches) displays a few minor edge and border creases and has been postally used. In Excellent condition overall. Full LOA from PSA/DNA and Full LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+.
