"Big League" ball (no manufacturer listed) inscribed on a side panel by Hall of Fame second baseman Frankie Frisch: "To John/Good Luck/'The old Flash'/Frank Frisch." Both the text and signature have been scripted in blue ink and grade "8." This ball first appeared at auction as Lot 862 in REA's May 2015 auction. At the time, we noted that the "John" to whom this ball is inscribed was none other than our consignor, a longtime autograph collector who personally obtained it many decades ago! The ball has been consigned to this auction directly by the purchaser in 2015. An illustration of a "Clark Bar" appears on the ball label, indicating that it was a promotional giveaway by the candy company. Frisch was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1947 and died in 1973 at the age of seventy-five. The ball displays a few small areas of light soiling and age toning. In Excellent condition overall. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
