Extremely rare and very likely unique collection of nine blank-back and progressive-proof cards from four classic 1970s Topps sets. Each of the offered cards possesses a subtle difference when compared to the final-issue card, which makes them particularly noteworthy and desirable among advanced collectors. 1-3) 1974 Topps: Three blank-back proofs of San Francisco Giants (#78 Fox, 156 Moffitt, and 233 Barr) with the team name in pink instead of the orange on the final-issue card. 4-5) 1976 Topps: Two blank-back proofs of #87 Tom Burgmeier, similar to the final-issue card but with the colors in the name bar at bottom switched compared to the final card. One originates from the Topps Vault and is printed on slick stock, often referred to as "First Proof." 6-7) 1978 Topps: Two blank-back proofs of #55 Mitchell Page, one of which is identical to the final-issue card and one of which does not include the All-Star Rookie trophy and originates from the Topps Vault. 8-9) 1979 Topps: Two blank-back "blackless" progressive proofs of #132 Rowland Office and 172 John Montague, each of which features the other's photograph and naturally differs from the final-issue card. Each of the cards presents as Near Mint overall, with a blank reverse as is standard for proof cards. This is an extremely unusual and fascinating group of Topps rarities that would be very much at home in even the most advanced Topps or error-card collections. Total: 9 cards. Reserve $200.
