Graded NM 7 by PSA. Magnificent high-grade example of key card Mickey Mantle from the classic 1964 Topps Stand-Up set. This is a pack-fresh gem with flawless colors, perfect gloss, a stunning bright, bold yellow and green background, and four sharp corners. The corners exhibit virtually no wear or chipping (a hint of wear on the lower left mentioned for accuracy), which is particularly remarkable for this issue. The blank reverse has a small dark mark in the center. These fragile cards were designed to have the tops “punched out,” allowing the cards to stand freely. This feature along with the flush-to-the-border design of the set makes finding these unusual cards in extremely high grade all the more challenging. This is a very attractive high-grade example of the key card from this very interesting, unusual, and scarce 1960s Topps set. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+.
