Spalding official Little League (LL1) ball signed by Thurman Munson in blue ink. Munson's signature (grading "8") has been beautifully scripted across the sweet spot and displays perfect centering. This ball once bore the signatures of a couple other players on a side panel which have since been professionally removed (a fact that will always be apparent upon examination under special black light but is impossible to discern with the naked eye). While some purists may deride that practice, sometimes, as in this case, the ends more than justifies the means: This is a simply magnificent Thurman Munson signed baseball that has essentially all the qualities one could possibly look for in an ideal high-grade single-signed example. As most collectors are well aware, single-signed Munson balls are not only rare, but also quite expensive. Given the current market of high-grade Munson single-signed balls, a ball such as this, which offers the same exact aesthetic appeal as a true single, but at a significant discount to a true single-signed ball, naturally has great appeal to many collectors. This is a beautiful Thurman Munson signed ball! All of the manufacturer's stampings are clearly legible and the ball remains in Near Mint condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $3,555
