55% range from Ex to Nr/Mt (averaging Ex-Mt overall), 45% Vg to Vg-Ex (includes a few with a possible slight trim). Complete set of 320 cards highlighted by many Hall of Famers, including Mantle, Aaron, Mays, Kaline, and Banks, as well as five of the six variation cards (#48, 101, 132, 157, and 204), for a total of 325 cards. We selected three cards to be graded and encapsulated by SGC. Keys: #1 Wilhelm (Ex-Mt), 10 Rizzuto (Ex), 22 Campanella (Ex), 23 Kaline (Nr/Mt), 33 Fox (Ex), 37 Reese (Vg-Ex), 59 Ford (Ex), 60 Slaughter (Vg-Ex), 65 Zimmer RC (Ex), 68 Howard RC (Vg-Ex), 103 Mathews (Ex), 130 Ashburn (Ex-Mt), 134 Feller (Ex-Mt), 158 Hodges (Vg), 168 Berra (Ex), 169 Furillo (Nr/Mt), 171 Roberts (Ex-Mt), 179 Aaron (SGC EX 60), 184 Mays (SGC VG/EX 50), 191 Lemon (Nr/Mt), 197 Kiner (Ex), 202 Mantle (SGC EX 60), and 242 Banks (Vg-Ex/Ex). The 1955 Bowman cards (Bowman's final baseball-card issue) have always been very popular due to their classic "television" style and inclusion of so many stars. The flush-to-the-border wood-grain design of this issue makes the cards very susceptible to corner and edge wear, and very difficult to assemble as a complete set in high grade. Overall a very sharp looking complete set, with only a few problem cards. This is the type of vintage set that to so many collectors represents the very best value. Total: 325 cards (set of 320 cards plus five variations). Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,133
