Collection of five different four-card advertising panels from the 1954 Bowman series: 1) Panel 1: #5, 6 Fox, 13, and 14. 2) Panel 2: #35, 36, 43, and 44. 3) Panel 3: #51, 52, 59, and 60. 4) Panel 4: #71, 72, 79, and 80. 5) Panel 5: #103, 104, 111, and 112. Each panel is missing the small diamond-shaped sticker that was originally affixed on the reverse. (We have seen a couple 1954 Bowman ad panels with the sticker still affixed, so we know the panels originally had this sticker, and knowing what to look for, we can see the slightest hint of the outline on the reverse of each panel where the sticker was originally affixed; the glue used was very weak and the sticker simply easily fell off, leaving little or no remnant of it ever having been there.) Bowman distributed these rare four-card panels only to grocery and candy-store owners for the purpose of announcing and providing samples of the new cards being offered. Because of their method of issue and purpose, advertising panels are quite rare. Each panel has light corner wear, otherwise overall Excellent condition. Dimensions: 5 x 7.5 inches each. Total: 5 panels. Reserve $500. Estimate (open).
