70% range from Ex to Ex-Mt, 30% Vg to Vg-Ex (with a couple slightly lesser). The 1954 Topps set has always been one of the most popular sets of the 1950s. Issued in the heart of the decade, the 1954 Topps set features the rookie cards of Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, and Al Kaline, among many other Hall of Famers and stars, including two examples of Ted Williams (first and last card in the set), all in brilliant and stunning color. Eight cards have been graded by SGC (all submitted by REA). Keys: #1 Williams (SGC EX 60), 3 Irvin (Ex), 10 Robinson (SGC EX+ 70), 13 Martin (Vg-Ex), 17 Rizzuto (Ex), 20 Spahn (Ex), 30 Mathews (Ex-Mt), 32 Snider (SGC EX 60), 36 Wilhelm (Vg-Ex), 37 Ford (Ex), 45 Ashburn (Vg-Ex), 50 Berra (Vg-Ex/Ex), 90 Mays (SGC VG 40), 94 Banks RC (SGC VG 40), 102 Hodges (Ex-Mt), 128 Aaron RC (SGC VG/EX 50), 132 Lasorda RC (Vg/Vg-Ex), 201 Kaline RC (SGC VG/EX 50), 239 Skowron RC (Ex), and 250 Williams (SGC EX+ 70). This is the type of vintage set that many collectors consider the very best value. The cards are classic, they look great, and even though they are in fairly high grade (this is a nice-looking set), they do not cost a fortune compared to higher-grade cards. In many cases, in the highest grades, a few commons from an early 1950s set can currently be valued by the market at more than an entire set such as this; and when it comes time to sell, a set such as this will actually generate far more interest from collectors as well, precisely because they are more affordable. Included with the set is an original one-cent wrapper (Ex-Mt). Total: 250 cards plus wrapper. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $2,963
